Klondike Solitaire

Overview

The most famous loner in the world. The objective is to move all 52 cards to the four foundations, organized by suit, from Ace to King.

Preparation

• 7 columns (tableau) receive 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 cards respectively. Only the last card in each column is face up.
• The remaining 24 cards form the stock, face down.
• The 4 foundations start empty.

How to play

• Buy: click on the pile to turn over a card for waste. When the pile is gone, the discard is turned over and becomes the pile again.

Each click turns over a card from the pile. The top card of the discard can be played in a column or on the foundation.

• Move to a column: a card (or sequence of face-up cards) can be moved to the top of another column if the destination card is an alternate color and one value higher (e.g. a red 9 of hearts over a black 10 of spades).

Face-up cards that already form a sequence (alternating colors, decreasing values) go together: the J♠ takes the 10♥ along with it, and the J♠ (black) fits over the red Queen.

• Empty column: only one King can be placed in an empty column.

Only a King enters an empty file.

• Move to the foundation: foundations are built in ascending order (Ace, 2, 3... King) and all cards in a foundation must be of the same suit.

• Whenever a card is removed from the top of a column, the card below is automatically turned over.

Victory

You win when all 4 foundations are complete — the 52 cards organized by suit.
